Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

These are questions that I frequently get asked by the comments form on the TKD page. To help save time, I have provided these questions and answers for your perusal. I hope these help.

Question 1: Can you train me/teach me/be my instructor?

Answer: No, for many reasons. For your training, nothing can beat personalized instruction. Do not mistake this website as a substitute for training- it isn't. Also, you really should have at minimum, a fourth-degree black belt instructor to have as your instructor. I am only a first-degree black belt. Generally, only fourth-degree black belt instructors are considered to be qualified to serve as a sole instructor. Anything below this would not be optimal. It is your training, and you want nothing less than a qualified instructor. While I am flattered that you are asking me, really you should seek someone better qualified for this.

Question 2: Why isn't there diagrams or instructions on how to do all the forms that you have listed on your website?

Answer: Because either 1)the forms are of a higher degree than my current ranking, or 2)the forms are part of the WTF school that I have never learned. Therefore, I can't post instructions or diagrams on those forms I never learned.

Question 3: Can I have blown-up (poster sized) photos of the diagrams?

Answer: The diagrams I have are all that I have. I don't have any larger ones available. If you are able to, you can try to attempt to contact the creator of the diagrams (Master P. Curell), but I have no way to contact this person.

Question 4: Why don't you post one-steps, two-steps, three-steps, sparring techniques, etc. that I learned in my school?

Answer: Believe it or not, these training techniques are NOT uniform across the same schools, even if they are within the same federation! Often these training forms are created by the instructor of that school. This is different than the poomses (forms), which are uniform across all schools. Due to this variation, it would not be practical or feasible to post every single one created, especially when they are not the same everywhere.

Question 5: I think I am finally ready to have the discipline it takes to learn Tae Kwon Do. Can you help me?

Answer: Questions of whether you are ready or not can only be answered by you. I can only help in having this website as a reference, but nothing more. As I've stated before, nothing can beat personalized instruction, and this is something I am unable to provide.

Question 6: I asked you something in Spanish (espanol). Why won't you respond?

Answer: I'm usually unable to answer to any questions personally due to lack of time and the sheer amount of mail I have been receiving. Unfortunately, even if I could, I really am not familiar with the Spanish language, so that makes it even harder for me to understand your question, let alone try to answer in a language I am not familiar with. If it makes you feel better, I have not been able to answer questions posed in English either- I simply don't have the time.

Question 7: So if you can't respond to questions, then what alternative do I have?

Answer: Try using the forum I provided on the website- it is public, so maybe someone else who frequents the site can help you.
